Cardinals fans who wanted to hear directly from Cardinals chairman Bill DeWitt Jr., and no one else, after retiring team radio broadcaster Mike Shannon suggested the team could soon be for sale got their chance Friday.
DeWitt, who introduced Cardinals starter Adam Wainwright at the start of the Zoom press conference announcing the starter's one-year extension, stuck around after the righthander departed, and offered to take questions from the media.
He had a good sense of which question would come first.
"I can't imagine in my wildest dreams where that came from," DeWitt said when asked by the Post-Dispatch about a comment made by Shannon during Thursday afternoon's broadcast.
