Somehow, some way, and thanks in large part to plenty of help from the crumbling of other National League wild-card hopefuls along the way, the Cardinals have discovered one of those wavelengths that can salvage a September and stir hope for October.
Don’t be stunned if the fire is snuffed out as fast as it was sparked. Don’t predict. Don’t bet. Don’t overthink. There will be an entire offseason for that, though maybe not as long of one as we once figured.
