Don't let one mistake turn into two.
One of baseball's most important lessons seemed to escape right fielder Stephen Piscotty on Sunday, and it cost the Cardinals in their 5-4 loss to the Cincinnati Reds.
It started with the Cardinals leading 4-1 with two outs in the top of the seventh.
Piscotty seemed to have a hard time reading the Adam Duvall double that soared over his head.
One batter later, Piscotty targeted the wrong base with his throw after a Eugenio Suarez single.
Piscotty fired to home plate, where there was no chance of catching Duvall, who scored to cut the Cardinals' lead to 4-2.
