Cast? Just Pham, a mixed-race son of a single teenage mother and an incarcerated father who used to have to wear braces on his legs, bouncing the ball against brick to practice his fielding because there is no one around to lend an arm.
Yet somehow we still find ourselves caught off guard at times by Pham's mix of bluntness, glaring honesty and impressive ability to create motivation from even the smallest of slights, whether they are real or simply perceived.
Pham has always been this way. Him against the world, for reasons that are easy to understand.
