Here’s a question to kick around during the fast-approaching MLB All-Star break:
Where would the Cardinals be in the National League standings if the NL had stuck with using the designated hitter?
Jack Flaherty would probably be a healthy All-Star.
Kwang Hyun Kim and Carlos Martinez would have dodged one of their two stints on the injured list.
Albert Pujols could have had a much better chance to rejoin his old team, considering the Cardinals could have placed him in the same lineup as first baseman Paul Goldschmidt.
Most importantly, I bet the Cardinals would be a lot closer to the division-leading Brewers.
