John Mozeliak admits he might have pulled rank a bit as the Cardinals penciled in the rehab start schedule of prized pitching prospect Alex Reyes.
It just so happens that Reyes will throw for Class A Peoria on Monday night, in a game the president of baseball operations had already planned to attend.
Mozeliak’s eagerness to see Reyes stare down a lineup of Clinton LumberKings shows he is not immune to the countdown that has transfixed a fanbase.
The Cardinals want Reyes fresh enough to pitch in the postseason. They also want him callused enough to enter next season as a starter.
