As much grief as Coors and Colorado get for the altitude and the flight of ball, one of the reasons why the Rockies’ home ballpark can be so hitter friendly and games so volatile is the vast acreage for hits to fall in the outfield. Outfielders play back because of the added flight to the ball, and that leaves some of baseball’s biggest gaps open and the shallow land right behind the infields available. Into that landscape this weekend, the Cardinals have thrown four outfielders who had never played an inning at Coors before this weekend.
After two key catches in Friday’s win, Bader and rookie Yairo Munoz both pointed toward the dugout as thanks for a positioning tip that led to the catch.
