Backup catcher Davis' grand slam rallies Cubs for 6-5 stunner vs. Cardinals

CHICAGO — The Cardinals' trouble with homers that provided some ominous background noise during their winning surge was easier for the team to ignore when they were solo bruisings or couldn't catch up with the offense the Cardinals had.

Backup catcher Taylor Davis slugged a game-tying grand slam in the fourth inning and Javy Baez landed a solo shot in the eighth to run the Cubs to a 6-5 victory Saturday at Wrigley Field. After the Cardinals pulled ahead for a four-run lead, the Cubs scored five unanswered runs -- all on homers -- to put themselves in position to sweep the series Sunday night.
