The Cardinals are the hottest team in baseball, and they've got several players vying to prove that they're #ASGWorthy. Third baseman Matt Carpenter sparked the Cards to their eighth straight win on Tuesday night, when he crushed a tying three-run homer in a 7-4 victory over the Cubs.
Carpenter, an All-Star in each of the past two seasons, hit .346 with a .412 on-base percentage in his first 26 games, delivering a .644 slugging mark. Of Carpenter's first 36 hits, 20 went for extra bases as he makes an excellent case to make the Midsummer Classic again.
