Hours after the Cardinals placed former All-Star closer Ryan Helsley on the 15-day injured list with a right forearm strain, manager Oliver Marmol shared how his club could proceed in the meantime.
St. Louis could lean more on the likes of righties Giovanny Gallegos, Jordan Hicks, and Chris Stratton more often late in games.
“Gio gets backed up an inning and Hicks sees some more higher leverage situations. And Stratton has done a really nice job of making the opposition earn it, regardless if he's righties or lefties. He’s been pretty good.” Marmol said pregame Monday. “They'll see some meaningful innings as well and we'll match up accordingly with other guys.
