Wong had four bunt singles last season in the midst of hitting a modest .249. But, taking a page perhaps from Furcal’s book, he drove home a run with a bunt against a lefthanded pitcher with runners on first and third on Wednesday against the New York Yankees.
Wong, who stole 20 and 15 bases in his first two full seasons in the majors, has stolen two bases already this spring, forcing a wild throw from the catcher on one of them. He said he would like to expand that part of his game, too, after swiping seven, eight and six bases in his past three seasons.
