Another defensive lapse costly as Cards lose 5-4 to Rangers

A defensive mistake that didn't go down as an error was costly all the same as the Cardinals got swept by the state of Texas on a five-game homestand, losing Sunday 5-4 to the Rangers.

On Saturday, it was reliever Trevor Rosenthal failing to cover first in time on an infield grounder that set the table for a two-run ninth inning. On Sunday, it was shortstop Aledmys Diaz going for a force at second instead of the out at first and not getting his throw there in time that extended an inning and allowed the Rangers to score twice and take the lead.
