Al Michaels, who forever will be known for an iconic call on a sport he rarely has broadcast, now is being honored for one that was the foundation of his illustrious sportscasting career.
Michaels on Wednesday was named the recipient of the Ford C. Frick Award, presented by the Baseball Hall of Fame for excellence in broadcasting the sport. He will be honored in July on the Hall's induction weekend, provided the coronavirus pandemic subsides enough for the festivities to be held.
His "Do you believe in miracles? YES!" call when the U.S. hockey team pulled its monumental upset of the Soviet hockey team in the 1980 Olympics forever will be his signature moment.
