JUPITER, Fla. — The news, bad news for the moment, is in on Alex Reyes but not yet, officially, on fellow Cardinals righthander Jack Flaherty. Both pitchers entered camp with shoulder soreness and the upshot is that neither is expected to be ready for the start of the regular season, which opens three weeks from Thursday.
Reyes, who led the club with 29 saves last season, was in Pensacola, Florida, on Wednesday to see famed Dr. James Andrews, who didn’t perform surgery but administered a “therapeutic injection,” Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol said.
Reyes will return Friday, at which point his spring routine will be mapped out further.
