CLEVELAND • There have only been nine innings of the World Series played and already Chicago Cubs manager Joe Maddon has found three alternatives to play in right field other than high-priced free agent Jason Heyward.
So profound is the slump that Heyward has found himself in and so urgent is the obvious need to win the postseason that Maddon has sided with others.
For Game 1, Chris Coghlan got the start, and late in the game -- primo time for a defensive whiz like Heyward -- the Cubs went with Albert Amora, and even then didn't pinch-hit with him for backup catcher David Ross.
