Moments after Yadier Molina's second homer of the game snapped a 1-1 tie in the top of the seventh inning Tuesday at Miller Park, the screw-top domed stadium had one of the rarest things happen. No, not a tie in the All-Star Game. That's so 2001.
The rain arrived before Miller's cover could roll closed, and though the umpires allowed the teams to continue playing for an additional at-bat eventually the rain was persistent enough to pause play while the roof closed. The grounds crew had to apply some Diamond Dry to the batter's boxes and the mound, but otherwise there wasn't any upkeep for the field.
