JUPITER, Fla. • Mike Matheny's announcement that Carlos Martinez will start opening day came after the Cardinals manager shared a smaller nugget of news about where another Cardinal could play today.
Don't be surprised if first baseman Matt Adams makes his outfield debut this afternoon against the Washington Nationals.
"Maybe even get him into the game today at some point," Matheny said this morning. "Just to get him out there. Get him more comfortable. But he feels pretty comfortable out there already. It's just a matter of opportunities."
Adams has a hard time remembering the last time he played in the outfield during a game.
