When another surgery brought pitcher Kyle McClellan closer to the end of his playing career and questions about what charity, what cause he could throw himself into in life off the mound, he turned to former teammate Adam Wainwright for direction on where to look, where to go.
Wainwright suggested McClellan hop in a plane to Haiti with him to find out.
The two big-league pitchers visited a village to see in person the projects Wainwright had invested in, and there McClellan watched Adam and Jenny Wainwright survey the people, the place, for more to do. McClellan described how he could “see his eyes open and the wheels spinning on not just what we can do here, but how we can do it.
