And just like that, it was over.
This is the sentence that plays in my head, every single year, when the Cardinals' season ends. Whether it's Game 6 of the World Series or Game 4 of a divisional game, or even the rare occasion when there are no playoffs at all for our boys in red, and we have only the long winter of no baseball following the last day of the season, I always have the exact same thought.
And just like that, it was over.
I don't honestly know if I've ever written those words before; I've been doing this whole writing thing long enough that past columns all start to run together in my head.
