Surging Clubs Making the NHL Playoff Race Interesting

As 2019 dawned, things were looking grim for Carolina Hurricanes, Chicago Blackhawks, Philadelphia Flyers and St. Louis Blues.

The Hurricanes and Flyers found themselves near the bottom of the Eastern Conference. With 37 points, the Hurricanes sat 10 points out of a wild-card berth while the Flyers were two points back. In the Western Conference, the Blues were dead last with 34 points while the Blackhawks sat just two points ahead.

With their playoff hopes fading, pundits were speculating over which players these clubs might move leading up to the Feb.
