The St. Louis Blues went into the all-star break just three points out of both the first and second wild-card position in the Western Conference and only five points back of third place in the Central Division.
After spending to the cap during the offseason, the Blues significantly underperformed during the first half of the season. Many people declared St. Louis the winners of the offseason after acquiring Ryan O’Reilly from the Sabres, along with the signings of David Perron and Tyler Bozak.
However, with the performance by some of the returning players, goaltending issues, and some coaching turnover, the regular season has not gone according to plan.
