The St. Louis Blues passed the halfway point of the NHL season when the calendar turned to 2020. However, for the longest time, the league and fans have seen the All-Star break as the midpoint of the year.
It makes sense in a way. Even though you have played slightly over half your games, you basically know what you are.
Most teams know, or are at least leaning one way, if they are going to be buyers or sellers. That doesn’t automatically mean they are going to make a trade, but more the mindset of whether they have a shot at the playoffs or are actual championship contenders.
