Last night during the 4-0 pre-season drubbing of the Blues by the Chicago Blackhawks, defenseman Niklas Hjalmarsson delivered a late, high check to the head area of Blues forward Ty Rattie.
It caught the eye of the refs, who immediately gave him a match penalty. It also caught the eye of the Department of Player Safety, who have scheduled a phone hearing on Monday with the player Hawks fans call Hammer. The hit will be looked at as a charging/illegal check.
After former Blackhawk/current Hab (sorry, guys) Andrew Shaw was suspended for three preseason games for a hit on Connor Hobbs, the DPS showed itself to be in regular season form.
