The Calgary Flames have acquired goaltender Brian Elliott from the St. Louis Blues, sources said Friday.
The Flames had been on the lookout for a No. 1 goalie since the season ended, disappointed with the performances of Jonas Hiller and Karri Ramo this past season, both of whom became unrestricted free agents at season's end.
The Flames, according to sources, spoke to Pittsburgh about Marc-Andre Fleury and Tampa Bay about Ben Bishop but made the deal with the Blues for Elliott, who has one more year left on his contract before become a free agent a year from now.
