Blues express interest in Detroit's Babcock

Detroit free-agent-to-be coach Mike Babcock has a list of would-be suitors around the NHL, and it’s now known that the Blues are one of the clubs interested in the coach.

The Post-Dispatch reported last week that Blues general manager Doug Armstrong was in the Czech Republic, attending the IIHF World Championships, and might be meeting with Babcock, who recently received permission from the Red Wings to speak with other organizations.

The Blues, who are currently evaluating whether to bring back Ken Hitchcock, are one of four teams that were granted permission to speak with Babcock, according to a report Sunday night on mlive.
