A busy weekend at Belson Stadium in Queens concluded on Sunday night with a tough 2-1 loss for the St. John’s women’s soccer team against Lehigh.
In a back-and-forth affair, with both teams tallying 14 shots, Lehigh’s Kayla Arestivo was able to put the ball in the back of the net after the initial shot was blocked. The Red Storm responded well, earning a penalty kick just 16 minutes after Lehigh had gone ahead.
Christina Bellero stepped up to take it and it was saved, but Lucy Whipp followed the shot well and was able to find the bottom corner to equalize.
