St. John’s women’s soccer alumna Vaila Barsley was called up to the Scottish national team last week for the team’s match against Belgium on April 11. Coming from Great Yarmouth, England, Barsley played for four elite youth teams before her collegiate career, Stalham Knights, Loddon, Norwich City, and Arsenal.
Barsely played at St. John’s from 2006 to 2009, earning herself 2006 NSCAA All-Northeast Region Second Team, 2006 All-Big East Third Team, and 2006 NSCAA Freshman All-American Third Team along the way.
The defender was a part of the first ever NCAA tournament team in 2009 for the Johnnies in her tenure.
