This is the weekend where J’Raan Brooks comes to visit St. John’s on his official visit. He will be around to see New York City, enjoy the balmy weather and see the Johnnies in Madison Square Garden for the first time this season, playing the Holiday festival against the Iona Gaels.
Brooks, a top-100 forward (ranked 79 by ESPN and 77 by 247Sports), decommitted from USC a few months ago, after an FBI investigation resulted in a charge for Southern Cal assistant Tony Bland, their top recruiter.
From San Diego originally and now living in Seattle, Washington, Brooks is a smooth and versatile forward who can score in the post and mid-range, skills sorely needed for Chris Mullin’s St.
