ESPN checks in on St. John’s practice

This afternoon, St. John’s had two prominent guests from ESPN visit.

Why is this newsworthy?

Because, for some reason or slight, ESPN’s Jeff Goodman, one of the leading online college basketball news voices/ sources on the network, has had a two year snipe war at the Johnnies, featuring commentary about how assistant Greg St. Jean looks like the real coach, among other things.

And today?

2017 is strange, man.

Also, and of more importance, Jonathan Givony, formerly of DraftExpress, came by and had some comments on the Red Storm players.

He pointed out that Chris Mullin’s squad looked deeper and as if they had better chemistry; that Justin Simon looked physically great but needs to show his jump shot; Sedee Keita also looks intriguing, with a strong frame, defensive potential, a “sleeper”; Shamorie Ponds looks bigger but needs to “round out his game”; and that Bashir Ahmed looks much more focused.
