Behind a game-winning layup with less than three seconds left by Steve Burtt and 23 points from St. John’s alumnus D’Angelo Harrison, Gaelnation upset 6th seeded City of Gods, 88-86.
Burtt also contributed 23 points with his fellow backcourt member Harrison, who also grabbed seven rebounds. Gaelnation’s backcourt accounted for over half of the team’s points. Javier Carter, who had 10 points, was the only other member of the team to score in double figures.
Gaelnation shot close to 50% from behind the arc, while City of Gods struggled from deep and from the free throw line, where they only shot just over 50% for the game.
