Despite losing three of their star players (SS Jesse Berardi, C Troy Dixon, and OF Michael Donadio) to the MLB draft after last season, Baseball America still considers the Red Storm the elite of the Big East baseball in their conference preview, released on Tuesday.
“Even after a few key losses, St. John’s returns an experienced, veteran team that should again be formidable on the mound and in the batter’s box,” writer Teddy Cahill wrote about Ed Blankmeyer’s ball club.
Both the Player of the Year and Pitcher of the Year went to St. John’s players, Anthony Brocato, and Sean Mooney, respectively.
