TNO, a Dutch-based independent research organization, is releasing new technology that will allow schools to automate the filming, broadcasting, stat collection and cutting of highlight reels for amateur basketball teams at an affordable price.
Sports Studio Automated automatically detects highlights and computes statistics in real-time during games. The system can detect game tactics for training and scouting. It can also produce highlight clips that can be used for mass media distribution. The second new technology is called the Virtual Director, a video application that can automatically follow the action of a game with panning, tilting and zooming.
“At TNO, we stand for innovation with a purpose,” Paul Valk, Head of Sports and Media Technology at TNO said in a statement.
