Even if you can’t grow your own playoff beard in the traditional sense, NBC Sports is giving NHL fans everywhere the opportunity to do so via the sports network’s first Snapchat lens. The creative initiative is part of NBC Sports and the Stanley Cup Playoffs marketing campaign titled “There’s Nothing Like Playoff Hockey.”
Besides growing some facial hair, which is synonymous every year with NHL playoff hockey, fans will have an opportunity to lift Lord Stanley’s Cup as well.
“Through Snapchat and the lens, we bring the Stanley Cup ‘into the hands’ of our fans, allowing them to participate with the sport,” Jenny Storms, NBC Sports’ Chief Marketing Officer, wrote to USA TODAY Sports in an email.
