In a year where virtual reality has been all the rage in sports, augmented reality has taken a backseat in technology discussions. Yet, the New York Mets and Cleveland Cavaliers are two franchises placing their bets on the latter heading into 2017.
In a new partnership with three-year startup company, Doppler Labs, the Mets and Cavaliers will look to transform fans’ listening experience through the use of augmented audio.

The news comes on the same day the company announced on its blog that it would be delaying the shipment of its Hero One wireless earbuds to consumers, the same product which will soon be available to fans at Citi Field and Quicken Loans Arena.
