AbelCine, which provides products and services to the production, broadcast and new media industries, teamed up with the production house MediaMonks, VR creator Ben Schwartz, Oculus and the NBA to use the ultra-high-speed Phantom VEO VR solution for the first time.
The high-speed stereo VR footage was produced during the Slam Dunk Contest in February. The final 360-degree video will be available to watch on Oculus Rift and Samsung Gear VR.
“Producing VR content for Oculus sets the bar high, so at MediaMonks we were happy to collaborate with the seasoned pro’s at AbelCine to assemble a 360 Phantom capture system to truly capture the magnificent athleticism of some of the best athletes on the planet,” Ola Björling, Global Director of VR at MediaMonks, said in a statement.
