Swope Park Rangers forward Dane Kelly has been nominated for Goal of the USL Cup Playoffs for his brilliant individual strike that sealed the Western Conference Final against Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 on Oct. 15.
The USL's all-time leading scorer raced onto a pass over the top from Tyler Pasher, cut inside his man and curled a delightful finish into the top corner to make the score 3-0 in the 89th minute of the contest.
Kelly, 25, made 24 total appearances for the Rangers in regular-season and postseason play, tallying eight goals and two assists. Perhaps his most telling contribution came in the Western Conference Semifinals against Orange County Blues FC where, with the Rangers down to nine men, Kelly scored the game-winning goal in extra time to send SPR on their way to becoming USL Western Conference champions.
