PORTLAND, Ore.
Portland Timbers midfielder Jack Jewsbury will retire at the end of this season after 14 seasons in Major League Soccer.
Jewsbury made the announcement at the Timbers' annual Stand Together Banquet on Sunday night. His announcement was greeted by chants of "One More Year!" from the crowd.
The 35-year-old has played for the Timbers for the past six seasons, including last season when Portland won the MLS Cup championship.
"I will always treasure my six years playing for Portland, including the postgame victory laps on the field with my daughters and celebrating the Timbers MLS Cup victory with the entire city.
