Swope Park Rangers Win Out in Preseason Cup

Swope Park Rangers, Sporting Kansas City’s new USL-PRO team, emerged victorious against Diamond Desert Cup hosts FC Tucson 1-0 to end their tournament participation undefeated, with a 2-0-2 record.

The decisive goal came a little over the half hour mark in the first half, when 18-year-old Nigerian forward Nansel Selbol pounced on an egregious mistake pass from the FC Tucson backline, drove into the penalty area, and chipped a lofted pass over to fellow forward Dane Kelly, who cracked home the goal past the FC Tucson goalkeeper.

Kelly demonstrated his quality throughout the 54 minutes he spent on the pitch, including in a nice backheel pass to Tomas Granitto right before he was substituted off that Granitto just missed out on.
