If there is one player who could laugh about this, it's probably Sporting Kansas City's Tim Melia. He knows all about being overlooked.

For the first five seasons of his career appeared in just six games and then was in Major League Soccer's goalkeeper pool before finding a home with Sporting KC. The Star's Sam McDowell recounted Melia's journey a few years ago.

Melia won the MLS goalkeeper of the year award last year after he had the best goals-against average (0.78) in league history for a player making 30 starts. This season, Melia has saved 74.
