With an afternoon press conference this week, Sporting Kansas City introduced the newest member of its roster, a 15-year-old who served as a ball boy at Children’s Mercy Park just last season. Several years before that, Tyler Freeman was one of the kids who walked onto the field with the players for starting lineups. He stood a few feet from Matt Besler, the captain of his new team.
Freeman rehashed those moments during his meeting with the media on Wednesday. Toward the end of the conversation, he turned to his new teammate, 16-year-old Gianluca Busio, and requested a ride to practice, one final reminder of his age.
