Sporting Kansas City II goalkeeper Brooks Thompson was named to the USL Championship Team of the Week today after playing an integral role in the club’s 1-0 road win over Indy Eleven on Saturday,
Returning to his home state, Thompson produced four pivotal saves at Lucas Oil Stadium en route to his first professional shutout as Sporting KC II snapped Indy Eleven’s 28-game regular season home unbeaten streak. The 18-year-old Sporting KC Academy product and Indiana native made particularly impressive stops to deny Indy attackers Tyler Pasher, Felicien Dumas and Andrew Carleton, setting the stage for Sporting KC II defender Danny Barbir to decide the match with a brilliant strike in the 70th minute.
