Sporting Kansas City forward Erik Hurtado will be sidelined for two to three months after undergoing successful arthroscopic surgery on his right knee.
The surgery was performed Tuesday under the care of Sporting KC’s chief medical officer Dr. Scott Luallin at Truman Medical Center – Lakewood Hospital in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.
Hurtado, 28, joined Sporting in December after spending his first six MLS seasons with Vancouver Whitecaps FC. He has made three appearances in the Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League, helping Sporting reach the tournament semifinals for the first time in club history.
