Sporting Kansas City has supplemented its roster with another homegrown teenager.
The club agreed to a multi-year contract Friday with Wan Kuzain Wan Kamal, a 19-year-old midfielder who first joined the Sporting KC Academy in 2016. The MLS deal — the ninth homegrown pact in franchise history — will run through 2020 with the club holding one-year options for both 2021 and 2022.
“His development has accelerated at an incredible pace,” Sporting KC coach Peter Vermes said. “I think he has a great understanding of his role in our model of play, and so there’s no doubt in our minds that he is a kid (who) is deserving of a shot at this next level.
