Sporting Kansas City announced on Tuesday that Brian Bliss will be the new Director of Player Personnel, a new position in the club.
Bliss played three games for the Kansas City Wizards in 1998 and was an assistant for the Wizards from 2000-2006, serving as interim manager after Bob Gansler stepped down in 2006. He was the technical director for the Columbus Crew for six seasons before moving to Chicago in 2014 as the technical director and eventually interim manager.
The new job will have Bliss handling Sporting KC personnel matters and assisting in scouting for the parent club, as well as having a hand in player assessment for Swope Park Rangers and the Sporting KC academy.
