I would say you have to feel a little for Houston Dynamo fans right now, but I still vividly remember the feeling of the orange terror that would come upon the Sporting Kansas City fanbase circa 2012 when Houston and Kansas City would draw each other in the MLS playoff brackets, simply because it was a truism at that point that Dominic Kinnear could–and would then proceed to–outcoach Peter Vermes.
Kinnear, of course, is now in San Jose, and while he may have bequeathed to the poor Owen Coyle something of a poisoned chalice in the form of a rapidly declining team built around an aging core of DaMarcus Beasley, Ricardo Clark, and the now-Spork Brad Davis, Coyle has proven to be a horrific judge of talent for the Dynamo: after literally two weeks on the job, Coyle signed Erick “Cubo” Torres on a five-year Designated Player contract; to date, after almost a full calendar year with the Dynamo, Torres has made only 12 appearances for the Dynamo with zero goals.
