The tragic stories of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery and so many others have left Sporting Kansas City forward Khiry Shelton heartbroken, angry and frustrated.
Shelton, whose father is Black and mother is Caucasian, has since been prompted to speak out—to no longer stay publicly silent about such an important and impactful topic.
In an emotional feature story penned by Sam McDowell of the Kansas City Star, Shelton has opened up about the challenges he faces as a black American and his support for the Black Lives Matter movement.
“I’m going to let people know that I’m a Black man, and this is what I stand for,” Shelton said.
