Sporting Kansas City advanced to the fifth round of the US Open Cup last night with a 2-0 win in Salt Lake City against Real Salt Lake. Johnny Russell and Kharlton Belmar combined on both goals for Kansas City in the win. In the game Matt Besler reached another career milestone for the club, becoming only the second player in club history to play 25,000 minutes for the club in all competitions, joining Kerry Zavagnin as the only two members of that club.
