The Comets ended the Wave’s unbeaten record with a confidence-boosting 7-6 victory in Milwaukee.
The injury-plagued Milwaukee Wave were without star forward, Ian Bennett, and their starting goalkeeper, Josh Lemos, while the Comets entered the match injury-free.
The Comets got off to a poor start, letting in two goals in the opening ten minutes. Leo Gibson kept his scoring streak alive by scoring a short handed goal before the Wave answered shortly after in the opening quarter.
With the Comets down 3-1 going into the second quarter, Kansas City responded by killing off a powerplay and scoring three unanswered goals from Leo Gibson, James Togbah, and Ramone Palmer to take the lead 4-3 at halftime.
