Brad Davis seals trade from Houston Dynamo to Sporting KC

The Houston Dynamo traded longtime captain Brad Davis to Sporting Kansas City on Thursday at the midfielder's request.

Davis, 34, had been with the Dynamo since the MLS club's inception in 2005 and is the team's all-time leader in games and assists.

Houston will receive Sporting KC's second-round pick in the 2017 SuperDraft and third-round pick in 2018 in exchange for Davis.

The Dynamo said Davis requested to move closer to his native Missouri. He is from the St. Louis suburb of St. Charles and played in college at Saint Louis.

"Brad recently approached us about the opportunity to return home to finish his career, and given his monumental contributions to the Dynamo over the years both on the field and in the community, we agreed to try and fulfill his wishes this off-season," Dynamo president Chris Canetti said.
