As the MLS roster freeze takes effect Friday, Sporting Kansas City turned to its B team for a pair of last-minute additions.
Sporting KC signed forward Kharlton Belmar and midfielder Kevin Oliveira to MLS contracts, plucking both players from its USL affiliate, the Swope Park Rangers. Each of their contracts are guaranteed only through the end of the 2017 season, with multiple club option years to follow.
“Kharlton and Kevin are two players who we believe can make the next step in the transition from the Swope Park Rangers to Sporting KC,” coach Peter Vermes said in a statement.
